S3 Graphics today announced the new Chrome 500 Series. A look at the product page, the press release and the offer at GStore is quite dissappointing: Instead of an upgraded GPU (perhaps Excalibur with a 128 Bit memory interface), the "new" cards seem to be identical to the already existing Chrome 400 Series. Chrome 530 GT has the same features and it's clocked the same as Chrome 430 GT. The only difference is the memory size (512 MB compared to 256 MB). It's a bit confusing why S3 Graphics released this card or choosed a new name for it. Perhaps it's a bugfixed version of Chrome 400 or someting like that. We try to get infomations about that. The good thing is that the card is immediately available at GStore for just 44,95 US$. Links:
